Kitchen Cabinets

When choosing the type of cabinet you want for your home, it is important to understand your options. What type of wood do you want? Do you want stock cabinets, or should you choose custom. Answering these questions will allow you to make the best purchase possible.

Not all kitchen cabinets are the same inside. When shopping for kitchen cabinets, most homeowners focus on the look of the cabinets and the design of the doors, but they don't ask about the most important feature of the cabinets, the material used to make the cabinet box. While the face frame and doors are important for the overall look, the structure of the cabinet itself is what will determine the lifespan of your kitchen.

 We at
Eurocenter Kichen and Tile use 3/4" plywood inside,  other companies use Particle board is common material that lower price of cabinets (and which you may recognize if you have ever shopped at Ikea). Particle board, also called press board, is really just small chips of wood compressed together and held together with glue. Unlike plywood which consists of multiple layers of wood with the grain running in alternating patterns, particle board doesn't have any of that interweaving to help strengthen the board. Because of this, the material will tend to chip or break easier, and will not be able to support as much weight. Quite often, you will have to use supports to strengthen the cabinets if you are installing a heavier countertop.

Before you go out shopping for them it is important to know what you want and need. While custom cabinets can be made to your exact specifications, stock cabinets are constructed before they are ordered. Because they are mass produced, the prices for them are substantially lower. They are held in storage before being shipped to stores or shops who will then sell them to buyers.

Custom cabinets are more expensive because they are often built by skilled carpenters who specialize in constructing them. They will put a lot of time and effort into designing your cabinet, and this is why they are so costly. It can often take between 3 and 4 weeks before you receive them. For those who want the ultimate in quality, the time and price is worth it. The speed of delivery and price are the most powerful advantages offered by stock cabinets.

Thermofoil Kitchen Cabinets

Thermofoil cabinets provide the look of painted cabinetry without the brush strokes, drips and imperfections that come along with paint. Made by heat-fusing a thin layer of vinyl onto a substrate material, thermofoil is an extremely popular choice for cabinet makeovers and reface projects.
